This story begins SAT Night.

Making pasta for Jason and I, I only had single serves of 2 different types of pasta, so I cooked 2 separate pans. Decided to go semi-sensible about emptying the pasta, I tipped the first one, the bigger pot, into a a plastic siv, even tho I had a real colander, but it's so big and annoying. Success, so I went to tip in the second one. Not successful. I don't know how, but I must have tipped the pot too quickly as I poured boiling hot water all over my left hand. *squeal *shock, no pain yet.. Jason threw my hand under the cold running water. Holy crap. Pain alright.
After 10 mins we decided to put some cream on it that said it was good for minor burns as my hand had no blisters, this bit would have been hilariously funny as the cream wouldn't come out and I did end up with what can only be described as an explosion of white viscous liquid all over my chest. Too bad that the warm cream on my hand was the MOST PAINFUL THING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED to date. Back under the running water. I continued to sit there with my hand under the water eating my pasta, that jason had salvaged while he rang 13HEALTH, they told me to go to the emergency room.
So hand in esky full of water that had an ice brick in it (which soothed more then the running water), we went off to Robina Emergency Room. The look on the nurses faces was funny as they'd thought I'd lopped something off due to the esky. Managed to get some Panadiene Forte while i waited and the nurse explained that there wasn't much the doc could do for me other then prescribe better drugs. So we waited. Roughly 2 hours we were there. When I finally got in the doc told me he was gonna bandage it, to prevent infection and I need to get my middle finger ring off.
Second most painful venture of the night. For the record my entire fingers and thumbs were red, as were my palm and knuckles. He said I'd done a good job with initial first aid and I shouldn't get scaring. As the cold cream started to turn warm I started a rial a bit, but my hand came out the other end covered in shit loads of cream and bandages. I got a prescription for more panadiene forte and for something I would later find out was morphine, in case the the first didn't work.
The ride to the Nerang late night chemist was HELL, it was the night that the Coast got that shit load of rain and also jason had to have the HEAT on in his car so it didn't overheat. Finally got home and after non-successfully trying to cold down my hand in the freezer I took the morphine and drifted off into a strange nights sleep.

The days after.

Oh had I mentioned that the night I burnt my hand was the weekend that Jason was doing split shifts? He ended up staying up 48 hours, working 3 shifts and only getting an hour before his 2am start then 10 mins in the docs surgery the next day.
Anyway, doc surgery the next day, lots of rain, the road from my place to hungry jacks has a flood way and boy was it flooding. Jas had the good sense to check it and we took the long way round to the highway. Some silly 4WDs were still crossing it. At the docs I had my hand re-wrapped and thankfully the redness had just about completely disappeared. We unfortunately had to wait an hour to get a doctors certificate for Mon-Weds, which I didn't think I'd need that long but thank god I had it.

About Sunday night the second ailment appeared. One of my wisdom teeth.
I have already had one out, which at the time cost $1500, and adding another $900 at the time to remove the rest wasn't an option. The right hand side of my face begun to ache, but it was until Monday that I was in agony. I had my panadiene forte to knock me out at night from my hand, and Jason picked me up more teething gel. Mon night I came to a decision.

I would need to drop cosplay from my life to improve my health.  

Choosing costume over getting my teeth fixed is ridiculous. I should have prioritised this long ago and I wouldn't be in this pain. I would drop Emilie Autumn, only half redo Poison Ivy and do a cheaper version of Ariel. Therfore I will probably do Poison Ivy Fri and Sat now.

After taking the weight of my expensive Emile cosplay off my budget I visited Jason's bfs partners dentist. The x-rayed my mouth and prescribed antibiotics and more painkillers. My mouth is so very swollen and the infected wisdom tooth can't be removed until the swelling goes down. Another $30 visit to the chemist and an expensive, but thankfully discounted visit to the dentist, and my little at home pharmacy is growing.

Jason unwrapped my hand and now only two fingers are wrapped. The middle finger, which has a nice long red mark I assume was from my ring, and my ring finger. They both have little red marks and are a bit tender.

Tues night I made a mistake. I had taken my antibiotics, panadiene forte before bed and for some reason that night the fortes wouldn't work. So I went the Endone again (morphine). 12:30 I was SICK. All that night I was constantly waking up every 2 hour to throw up, and there was very little in my stomach to begin with as my mouth was swollen making it very hard to eat. I ended up being sick about 6-7 times and made an appointment for the docs and rang for my pop to take me.
Pop got back with from picking my parents up from the Airport at about 10 and my mum rang. I told her the story and she came and got me as Pop picked at driven at 6am and dad had driven back.

Mum works at the doc surgery I go to, so this time she came in with me and got my medicine sorted out. I had a nice Maxalon shot (for nausea, i've had a few of these) and more prescriptions. Only this time I'm on a winning combo. The doctor was going to give me another doc cert for the next few days but it turned out that the original certificate had given from the 8th of feb til the 10th of march! whoops! so he didn't bother.

Aftermath.

I am now on a winning combo of pencillin with no food, teething gel, maxalon for nausea and plain old nurofen plus with food for pain. Oh and my new lovely heat wheat for my cheek, as ice is good for blood and burns but heat is better for infection as it reduces the puss (i know ew). And powerade!


The moral of this story. Cosplay is not more important then your health. I deeply regret placing it before getting my teeth fixed and I will be doing less cosplay in the future.
I still enjoy it, but after all it is a hobby and my health is my life.
I choose to drop the Emilie one as I had no commitments to anyone. I hope I can do it later in the year but it doesn't seem likely.
